New York's interest for the region makes it an ideal place for us to bring this amazing Rhône experience to life for the first time in the US."

"Côtes du Rhône offer such a variety of wines, the majority of the wines are reds but the whites and rosés shine as well" says Brand Ambassador Daphne Payan. "To bring such a food and wine tasting experience in the city is a chance for us to also immerse the attendees in a sensory and visual decor reminiscent of the Rhône river, the vast vineyards surrounded by rolling hills, and the amazing collection of scents of lavender fields, olive groves, orchards, thyme and rosemary, pine and oak trees."

About Côtes du Rhône Wines
Côtes du Rhône simply means “the hillsides of the Rhône [River]”. About 1.5 million hectoliters (about 40 million gallons) of Côtes du Rhône and Côtes du Rhône Villages wines are produced over 40,000 ha in South Eastern France on both banks of the Rhône River. The vineyard of Côtes du Rhône AOCs is one of the largest vineyards of AOC wines in France and one of the oldest. It was planted originally by the Greeks and the Romans BC, it then flourished under the influence of the Popes in Avignon and became famous in all the royal European courts. French kings were so protective of it that they asked that the barrels were branded with the letters "C.D.R." to guarantee its authenticity and safeguard its quality as early as in the 17th century. The area’s fame increased further still and was legally protected in 1937, when it became the AOC (Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée) Côtes du Rhône. In all, 21 varietals are authorized for blending in the appellation. The reds and rosés are primarily made from a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. The whites are primarily made from white Grenache, Marsanne, Roussanne, Viognier. Worth mentioning the region offers 2 fortified wines: Rasteau Vin Doux Naturel and Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise.
